Much Needed Night Outs

On Friday Gabe met co-workers after work to go out for drinks so that meant that Dirk and I were on our own from 7AM Friday- 7AM Saturday( I am a LIGHT sleeper and I asked if he would kindly sleep in the spare bedroom when he got it late). ANDDD it went swimmingly! I should have prepped some food because I was starving by the end of the night, but all in all, it was a success. Definitely missed an extra set of hands at the end of the day because Dirk is so big and heavy strong : ).

Saturday Routine:

  1. Coffee
  2. Paper
  3. Baby Smiles and Kisses
  4. Load Up Car
  5. Head to Park
  6. Walk
  7. Play at the Big Toy(Dirk stares at kids and they point and yell “BABY!”)
  8. Short Trip to Store-Probably Target
  9. Head Back Home for Lunch
  10. Relax Outside at Home

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. Our wonderful weekend morning routines.

Except this Saturday I did extra prep work because Gabe was going to be solo with Dirk for the night as I went out on my first impromptu Girl’s Night in… almost an entire year. Of course I’ve had girl’s nights… but they didn’t consist of a little bubbly or dancing so they just don’t really count.

I had thought I had found an outfit and when I put it on with just enough time to hop in the car… it just didn’t look quite right. I asked Gabe and he kindly made an awkward face and said huhhh. So there was a mini-meltdown in the walk-in closet. Gabe thought he could help by showing me pregnant tops(the ones with the extra stretchy fabric on the sides) as if it was regular clothes… and apparently I didn’t take that too well. Thankfully I’m not alone. There was a good mom talk on the ride up with Nikki. Crisis averted. My body is soft and clingy fabric will have a place in my wardrobe soon. Just not now. But just look what I have to show for it- a healthy and happy baby boy. Easy-peasy to get over that meltdown.

Bubbly. Dancing. Friends.

Pictures Thanks to Gabe- kept me updated on their night:

Glad I got that out of my system for awhile! I LOVE seeing my friends. But I can now clearly say that I no longer enjoy restaurants that are too loud to talk in. And being pregnant we used to go out of our way to stay away from smokers… and I FORGOT. So many people smoke. Staying out that late definitely makes the next day just a little tough to be your happy normal self at 4AM and 7AM. : ) Poor Gabe.

Thankful that this 27 year old got all of her late nights out of her system. Wine bars-wine tastings and low-key bars sound perfect to me now. Thankgoodness. Of course… every once-in-while there will need to be dancing. A la Dane Cook: I just want to DANCE!

We both mastered the bedtime routine solo this weekend. Now we know we can do it. But are quite happy with the thought of not doing it again for quite some time. We relish our family time at night- especially tub time. <3
