Our goal is to eat outside as often as the weather allows it. I strive for 2-3 times a week where we dine outside as a family. Getting outside in the fresh air and being able to play around keeps meal time fun and exciting. Plus messes make memories.
One of my rules is that it is okay to get dirty. Life is too short to worry about stains. The look of fear when a child realizes they had an “accident” and a little bit of dinner ended up on their shirt? Not worth it. The kids do their best and that is all that I will ever ask of them.
I love creating experiences that they cherish. And picnics? Picnics are THEIR FAVORITE. I can’t quite put my finger on it but- fresh air, playing hot lava monster, and deliciously fresh food is a win. Toddler win. Preschooler win. Mom win.

Wait it takes us thirty-five minutes to get there and they NEVER want to eat when we just get there… oh there is a stainless steel container for that. Kept my food cold for nearly six hours. SIX.
With Raymond’s food allergies, along with the rising grocery bills(hello growth spurt) and the fact that allergy-free food costs A LOT more-the options can tend to get boring.
