Friday night was low key. As soon as G came home we hit-up Costco. There were some things we needed that were on sale. On the list: Dove Soap, Kirkland Bleach Wipes, Pasta, Ground Beef, and TP. Who knew that Friday was also sample day and G gladly walked around with D snagging up all of the yummy goodness.
We hit the local park and walking trails at night to get in some quality swing time and watch D walk around. He is SUCH a good walker now. Small changes in elevation don’t bother him anymore and he only has some small hiccups if there is a step up or down that is five inches or bigger. : )
Saturday we headed to the community next to ours for some garage sale hunting. I saved us some serious dough. Please enjoy my little round-up of our finds for the morning.
Saturday turned out to be incredibly busy. We cleaned up our finds from the garage sale while D took his first nap… it should have been much longer. But I had a small mishap with a large, solid wood shelf falling on me and then clattering to the floor on our tile. I winced in pain-large bruise on my head to show for it- but even worse I woke up the baby. Crap. Shelf: 1 Mom: 0 & bruise.
G was donating plasma up North so we made a trip of it(to make sure he didn’t have adverse reactions) I drove, dropped him off and D and I headed up to Babies R US for the Graco Safety Seminar. We arrived ten minutes late and it was already over- cue Mom headache- but there was another one in a little over an hour- okay- so we “explored” Babies R US. D played in one of those cute little cars-which he loved- and we walked around the store-window shopping. You see, Graco was giving away one of the nicest car seats I’ve ever seen. There were only 3 people at the first seminar and one won. When it came time for the second, we listened to our gracious host, talked to other Mom’s, our babies played together, and when it came time to see who won, a teenage boy ran into the store and put his name in the basket- and won. So- such is life. D and I headed back down to pick-up G just in time for D to take a short nap in the car.
Arriving home later than I would have liked, we changed D, grabbed his costume, loaded up the car and headed to D’s cousins birthday. It was a Halloween birthday party so D wore a costume we got from the Goodwill. He was Yoda, from Star Wars-complete with light saber. Adorable! The decorations for the party and food were amazing! We had so much fun being with family and watching D interact with other little ones. A couple of the boys that were 8/9 years old came as Jedis and Darth Vader- so they took D under their wings and tried to teach him about the force(you may think I’m kidding, but I’m not). We headed home at 7PM- which is usually D’s bedtime because although he was having fun still, he became disoriented and had a hard time walking- talk about exhaustion. Needless to say he was a happy camper when we got home and put his jammies on : ).
D went down easily and G and I got to watch the Wildcats tear the Washington Huskies to shreds! BEARDOWN ARIZONA! I may or may not have fallen asleep in the fourth quarter- we were trouncing them at that point- which goes to show just how tired I was because I do not fall asleep anywhere- I can’t even take a nap.
Sunday morning we took a family trip to the park-love the fresh air in the morning and 70 degrees temp! I may or may not have been trying to find a place for our newest piece of furniture… much to G’s dismay. So after two coats of oil and plenty of time to dry I decided that the dresser was going to go in the spare bedroom-hopefully D’s big-boy bedroom next year- which means we would have to get rid of the couch that was currently being saved there. I had grand plans on saving the couch for a future play room in a larger house- because seriously- who buys a new couch for a playroom? BUT- we needed to make room. The fact that we got that couch up there to begin with, with just us two was a miracle. I had literally just given birth to D and thought that we needed more room downstairs. It was a miracle neither of us got hurt lifting it over the stairs or trying to “PIVOT” it on its’ end, a la Ross from Friend’s. Long story, short- we got it out. I have some serious patch work to do on the walls upstairs and door frames- BUT it is gone. We set it out on the curb and it was gone in hours. Had it still been there today, I would have put an Ad on Craigslist about the freebie-oh and we tried to have Goodwill pick it up, but we are ‘out of area’ for them.
Tiny red couch out on the curb at the edge of our Cul-de-Sac. Bye Bye couch! Hello Big Boy Room : )
Sunday night was spent in kitchen. I made my second round of homemade Mac & Cheese and it was divine! Plus- it was Taco Night so D relished helping Mom with his utensils(that looked just like mine) and he was so proud. : ) He carried those two around for hours- just walking around hitting them. Hubs was tending to the yard- mowing, trimming, fertilizing and raking. Our yard looks ten times better than last year- which is great because I want to spend some quality time out there for D’s birthday that is fast approaching!
Weekends go by too fast. Too, too fast.
