These two “talk” all day. I swear he understands what she says and she understands him. Sharing is caring. Kisses and hugs. Goodness I love watching these two become little people. What I love even more is watching them as brother and sister.
Our days are full of activities, mundane to many, but fraught full of adventures, stories, and tales. We venture out of the house, complete chores, and explore our community.
My days are full of laundry, boo boos to kiss, floors to clean, and little minds to nourish.
I choose to keep my phone off during the day, save for when I am nursing Em upstairs. The only time I am on social media or working during the day is when they are sleeping. I haven’t posted much recently because we have been busy- and I am forever grateful of what this little blog has brought our family. We are able to afford small comforts because of all of you and I will always be thankful. I am especially thankful for a place to write, share, and be supported by people all around the world.
I wanted to share some of my favorite moments from the past few weeks.
Thanks for reading and following along our adventures in life!
Outside play- Every day.
We ride bikes, play with chalk, basketball, blow bubbles… getting out of the house is a necessity for both them and me- even in the 100s.
Black Bean Goatee
Em will not wear a bib. She acts like she is being choked and forcefully rips it off. Needless to say, most of her meals are now in the buff. Too many adorable outfits ruined by the food monster.
You talking to me?!
She was so proud of herself with her little container. So proud. She couldn’t believe she got to hang onto it.
Em LOVES her food. LOVES her food.
Our summer go-to activity.
Both little ones are water babies and it doesn’t matter how cold the water is! The Toddler can be shaking and he stays adamant that he is still having fun- luckily a snack break in the sun is all that takes to warm them up!
This is his “cheese” face.
When did he grow-up? Two going on 15.
While Em naps The Toddler and I usually do afternoon art. He loves painting, water coloring, and crayons! I sit and read books out loud in our rocking chair. Quiet afternoons with my little man are my favorite!
Splash Pad Heaven
Art: The Toddler is currently striving toward dominating his shapes.
Home Depot Buddies
Em has taken some steps and prefers to cruise most of the day. Unless she is chasing The Toddler. Then whatever toy she was playing with goes straight into her mouth and she crawls creepily fast after him. The amounts of time that I have been scared(to the point of screaming) can not be counted on my hands with her stealth skills.
Em is my shadow when I am in the kitchen. The Toddler has an extensive list of food allergies which makes cooking and using fresh veggies and fruits a must in our house. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and from when The Toddler could crawl we made sure that all of the lower cabinets were “baby” friendly. No harmful chemicals-Glass Jars- Sharp Objects. So now when Em is crawling around me she will open a cabinet and BEHOLD an hour of fun can be found! Alas, a huge mess-but I think it is a good give and take.
That hair.
Aunt Darcy your little niece has your hair. Em’s hair sticks up like this all day-every day. I love the reaction she gets from little ones and adults. Priceless.
Sweet Moments
When one is napping the other looks for them. The first thing they do when they see each other is wave, giggle, and then he kisses her. I want to remember this always. So thankful that my little ones will grow up close in age and can share in so many adventures.
Speaking of adventures…
Trouble.
Em started this fiasco. I went to use the restroom that’s about twenty feet away. I could hear them giggling and squealing with glee. The Toddler helped clean it all up to Em’s dismay.
Sharing water. I call it the circle of germs.
Em, sometimes… you are literally a highway- complete with engine noise. Awe, Sweet Em- you hold your own little one. If anything YOU are the one that we need to worry about being too rough and tumble. You tackle your brother with body slams on a day-to-day basis. You give your mother mini-heart attacks multiple times a day with your “bravery”. Some day those moments will be funny. Yes, some day even your brother may think it’s hilarious how you would fly through the air hurtling your tiny fists of fury taking him down without a moments notice. Some day.
A little bedtime crafting. Some people watch TV at night- I usually work on contracts or on house projects! The blackboard was transformed from one of my old teaching bulletin boards. A simple can of black chalk paint and voila! I painted another large board to put up in our master bedroom for when I finally get to create my “office” nook on the side of our bedroom-complete with a real desk. Now if only someone didn’t need an old solid wood desk… anyone?
Are there any projects that you have completed recently?
Any fresh ideas on how to beat the heat this summer? I need them!
