Dark Hope: Book One of the Archangel Prophecies is a new young adult saga about the love between a human and an archangel. The book delves deep into the struggle and frank reality of human trafficking in our society. The main character Hope is a survivor who finally gets the chance to start over at a new high school in Atlanta, Georgia. Hope meets a mysterious, handsome teen who could be exactly what she needs or her complete undoing.
You will not want to put this book down. That is a warning, but in my humble opinion, means that it is worth your time to grab a copy of your own! The author Monica McGurk will keep you rapt to every word as you dive deep into the saga. The book definitely has the feel of the Twilight story line with danger, young love and an air of mystery.
My alone time is little and very precious. VERY PRECIOUS. I loved being able to sit down during nap time, reheat my coffee for the third time that day, and put my feet up. Slippers were not optional. A little escape and me time? PERFECT. This book was incredible and I can not wait until Book Two is released!
I really appreciated the Question and Answer section. Not enough author’s take the time to do this for their readers! Check out the Reader Guide- and see all of the fabulous questions available- these two were ones that really stood out to me as I was reading.
The scenes involving domestic minor sex trafficking (DMST) and the men and girls involved in them were very dramatic. Did these scenes change your thinking about the trafficking of humans in the United States? Did you realize that these things are happening in ordinary American cities? What do you think you can do to spread the word about human trafficking and try to bring it to an end?
Who do you think is at risk of being trafficked and sold into prostitution? Foreign children or native citizens? Young girls or young boys? At what ages? From what socioeconomic backgrounds? What risk factors increase the odds someone is victimized in this way?
