We felt especially lucky to have Nana here for Em’s first birthday. Family is far away and we cherished having her for nearly a week! She just got her ankle replaced(yes, that is a thing) and kept up with us at our local splash pads, tumble tots, and backyard shenanigans. Watching your children start to really love a family member-one that is not local-as none are-is incredibly heartwarming and heart-wrenching. The Toddler is already counting down the weeks until she visits again… thinking about doing a paper-chain :).
